Rolling Stone settles defamation case with UVa administrator

Rolling Stone settles defamation case with UVa administrator

News wires lit up Tuesday night with word of the settlement, but missing was how much.

This is most likely the end of a long saga after Rolling Stone published the bombshell story "A Rape On Campus" in 2014.

Another lawsuit against the magazine, waged by the fraternity, remains pending.

A federal jury ruled in November 2016 that Erdely and Rolling Stone had acted with "actual malice", awarding Eramo $2 million from Erdely and $1 million from Rolling Stone and Wenner Media.

In the defamation case, Eramo alleged the article portrayed her as indifferent to victims of sexual assault.

The magazine's story said that a female student identified only as "Jackie" was gang raped at a university fraternity.

KFC Announces Commitment to Use Completely Antibiotic Free Chicken
Eleven of the 15 largest restaurant chains in the US have committed to ending the use of antibiotics on some level. KFC's new policy will likely move this percentage even higher.

A police investigation later found no evidence to back up Jackie's claims.

An investigation by The Washington Post showed that aspects of the account were not true. "It allows Nicole to move on and really focus on what she does best, which is help victims of sexual assault".

Nicole Eramo's lawyer confirmed to WTOP the two parties settled the dispute amicably, but that the terms of the settlement are confidential. And the fact that Rolling Stone magazine was complicit in this fakery is the result of their own politically driven effort to promote an agenda that, as we've seen, is injurious to individual liberties and due process. The judge granted Rolling Stone's motion, and the defendant is still aiming to overturn that sanctions order.

While the local chapter will produce the documents requested, he said, "The guys in Des Moines who are busted for hazing or drinking are categorically irrelevant".

The magazine was moving toward an appeal when they made a decision to settle. That they weren't says alot about the shortcomings of our justice system.
