Emirates is using a new perk to defy the U.S. laptop ban

One airline has come up with an ingenious way round the ban on electronic devices which the Britain and the USA have instituted on flights from Middle Eastern countries.

All loaners tablets will be equipped with Microsoft Office 2016.

The service is complimentary and will be available on all non-stop flights from Dubai to Emirates' US destinations. Passengers should download their work on a USB drive for transfer to the loan tablet, the airline said in a statement.

The TSA directive sees laptops, cameras, Kindles and other large electronics banned from plane cabins on flights from eight Muslim-majority countries. According to NBC News, Qatar Airways is now loaning laptops to its business class customers, while Etihad Airways is offering free Wi-Fi and iPads to its first and business class customers. The devices would be collected, tagged, and stored in an aircraft hold until arrival in the US.

For customers who prefer to stow their personal devices and not work during the flight, Emirates had introduced a laptop and tablet handling service for US-bound customers.

To make it easier for the travellers, the Emirates Airlines have chose to provide the Travellers of First and Business Class with Microsoft's Surface Tablets as complimentary to use during a non stop flight to USA. They could also use their devices to the moment they board their US-bound flight.

Emirates has also introduced a laptop and tablet handling service for US-Bound passengers that allows them to use their devices in lounges and hand them in at the boarding gate.

Customers travelling to the U.S. could pack their electronic devices into their check-in baggage at their point of departure. For more on Emirates tablet lending program, click on the video at the top of the story.
