Jurgen Klopp: I don't blame Gareth Southgate for Adam Lallana injury

The Reds boss has suffered a major blow ahead of Saturday's Merseyside derby against Everton, with Lallana expected to miss the game and be out for up to a month with a thigh problem.

Liverpool also face Bournemouth, Stoke, West Brom and Crystal Palace within the predicted four-week time frame, with Lallana potentially missing all five matches including the derby.

Lallana picked up the injury in the first half of England's 2-0 World Cup Qualifier win at home to Lithuania but played the entire 90 minutes thinking he had only suffered a dead leg.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has not put the blame on England boss Gareth Southgate for Adam Lallana's injury on worldwide duty.

If Klopp sees the above video, he'll certainly have a few questions to ask about why Lallana was made to play the whole match. "We both share players".

Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool's owners, have hired a private jet to get Firmino and Philippe Coutinho back in time so they can train today but it is a far from ideal situation.

Like Lallana - whose scheduled to return with just three games Premier League games remaining - there's also a possibility that Hendo's season could be over.

Klopp is anxiously waiting to see if Jordan Henderson, Liverpool's captain who has been absent for nearly four weeks, responds from treatment in time to be in contention to take Lallana's place in midfield.

The England attacking midfielder picked up a hip problem during the worldwide break to leave Jurgen Klopp without one of his key players for the visit of Everton.

"I was not happy that he played on Wednesday, but it is not about blaming Gareth Southgate", Klopp told BBC.

Klopp has had to promote numerous youngsters to his bench and the only consolation without Lallana is the prospect of captain Jordan Henderson returning. This is my third against Everton but I have played a lot of different other derbies in my career. His vision and pass set up Jamie Vardy's strike for the Three Lions at the weekend.
