NORC Poll: Most disapprove of Trump, except on economy

NORC Poll: Most disapprove of Trump, except on economy

That's according to a poll by The Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research that was released Wednesday.

In fact, when the latest Fox News Poll asked voters what's the one thing they really want President Trump to accomplish, "cut taxes" is topped only by "create jobs" and "destroy ISIS".

In a separate poll conducted between Jan.7-23, 46 percent of Americans wanted to keep Obamacare, the popular name for President Barack Obama's healthcare reform, while fixing "problem areas", and another 8 percent wanted to keep it exactly as it is.

Additionally, 60 percent of respondents said they had no trust in Trump and his administration as to delivering accurate and factual information to the public.

But the poll also found a brighter spot for the businessman-politician on the economy, often a major driver of presidential success or failure.

Note to President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans: People really don't like your approach to overhauling America's health care.

A total of 56 percent of Americans across income levels think the current income tax system is not fair to people like them, the poll said. Even more - 70 percent, including 45 percent of Republicans and three-quarters of independents - found Trump's regular use of Twitter reckless and distracting. Fifty-three percent of white responders said that they approve of the president's job performance while 47 percent disapprove. Eleven percent said he should get more support from conservatives and Republicans, 18 percent said he should get more support from liberals and Democrats, and 7 percent said the president should just stick to what he wants. It was his worst rating among seven issues the poll tested, which included the economy, foreign policy and immigration.

And with controversial actions like placing temporary bans on travelers from Muslim countries and attempting to replace the Affordable Care Act with a Republican-approved alternative, Trump's numbers have continued to plummet.

The poll was taken among a random sample of 1,088 adults between Saturday, March 25, and Tuesday, March 28. The margin of sampling error for all respondents is plus or minus 4.0 percentage points.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online in English in all 50 states.
