Lyft Makes Donating As Easy As Rounding Up

Lyft announced a new program Sunday titled "Round Up & Donate". And now, there's a painfully easy way to do that: Lyft's Round Up & Donate program is letting users round their fares up to the nearest dollar, and the extra money they pay will go toward charity. This program will be available to passengers within the next few weeks. As per the plan, passengers can opt to round up their fare and can donate the difference for charity activity. "Our vote matters, our choice matters, the seat we take matters", Zimmer continued.

Lyft also pledged in January to donate $1 million to the American Civil Liberties Union over the next four years for the legal defense of immigrants and signed amicus (friend of the court) briefs protesting both of President Donald Trump's travel bans.

Users will not be able to choose to donate on a ride-by-ride basis, but they could opt out entirely at any time if they want.

As his ride-hail company continues to benefit from the ongoing struggles of its top rival Uber, the extremely rich executive took a moment out of his busy schedule rescuing kittens or whatever to chat it up with Time.

The House could be poised to approve this week a proposal that would create statewide regulations for ride-sharing companies, while a Senate committee also could move forward with its own version of the legislation.

It seems as if the San Francisco company is taking the opportunity of Uber's critical phase; to knock out its competition and come off with more goodwill among users. During a media call on March 21, head of USA and Canada operations Rachel Holt said Uber saw more rides in the past week in the United States than it's ever seen before.

Lyfy, long considered the also-ran in the first wave of ridesharing companies, has long positioned itself as the company that cares, as opposed to Uber's reputation as the "ruthless corporation".
