Google redesigns its mobile app and website with tappable search shortcuts

With the new update, users will be allowed to tap on individual topics or areas of interest and get an entire feed of stories related to it. Google doesn't say when the tappable shortcuts will find their way to other countries.

Google has announced a major redesign that extends to its iOS and Android applications as well as the company's web portal. You can already do a lot of these things within Google Search, but now you won't have to type the whole query out (for example, manually searching "nearby ATMs" or "NBA schedule" in lieu of the tap). This way, users can simply tap upon whatever they want to look for and get a string of relevant results.

The shortcuts will begin appearing Tuesday in updates to Google's app for iPhones, Android phones and its mobile website. Android users are getting a string of additional options as well, and can find things like translate, nearby attractions, flights, hotels, Internet speed test, currency converter, and more at the touch of the button. Yehoshua said this is "the easiest way to uncover nearby must-try spots while you're out and about".

Meals on Wheels' support soars after Trump eyes cuts
The press release pointed out that "the proposed 17.9% cut prescribed for HHS" could impact the Meals on Wheels program . Meals on Wheels services began before the neighboring Cascade Park Community Library was constructed.

An update for Google News & Weather is set to roll out this week, centered entirely on bringing more headlines to your eyeballs. This is certainly a feature that should have been added to the app for a while, and we are curious to see if it become popular. Right now, Google says the so-called tappable shortcuts are available to users in the USA and it didn't elaborate on when they might be available elsewhere.

The new design is rolling out now in the most recent version of the Google mobile app.
