Hack Attack: McDonald's repeals & replaces 'tiny hands' Trump tweet

It said that President Donald Trump is a "disgusting excuse for a president" and that it would be better to have former President Barack Obama back in the White House.

The tweet was also pinned on the account's profile, meaning anyone who visited the page would see it at the top of the McDonald's corporate feed. Shortly after the tweet was posted, McDonald's said it was notified by Twitter that its account had been compromised.

President Trump did not respond to the tweet even though he is an avid Twitter user.

Trump also starred in an advert for McDonald's back in 2002, boasting about his deal-making prowess to company mascot Grimace.

McDonald's isn't the first company to publicly distance itself from Trump, with Skittles and Tic Tacs both politely rejecting his claims in the past, but this has definitely been the most direct.

The @MCDonaldsCorp account posted a tweet indicating that the controversial tweet was not something the company approved.

The rogue tweet was posted Thursday morning as a response to Trump's personal account. Some important Twitter accounts were hacked on Wednesday and anti-Nazi tweets were sent out in Turkish, in midst of a political conflict between Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey.

Analysts said the hack raised questions about security at Twitter, but was unlikely to do much damage to the restaurant chain's brand. Twitter said on Wednesday that the source of that attack was a third-party app, whose permissions have since been removed.

After clinching the 1,237 delegates needed to win the Republican presidential nomination in May, Trump shared a photo of himself with McDonald's fries and an uneaten burger while riding on his airplane. He's previously praised the restaurant and other fast food chains, including posting a photo of himself eating McDonald's on his private jet during his campaign a year ago.
