UCLA graduate programs earn high rankings from US News & World Report

Methodologies for each of the 2018 rankings are available online.

U.S. News sent statistical surveys to administrators at more than 1,970 graduate programs and compared them with reputational surveys of more than 16,500 academics and professionals. The surveys were conducted during the fall of 2016 and in early 2017.

Within the specialty rankings, IU McKinney and IU Maurer had strong showings.

Ohio State University's law school maintained its rank as the state's top-rated law school at 30th.

Valparaiso University School of Law remained in the "Ranking Not Published" category. Graduate programs in these and other disciplines typically go several years between rankings.

The 30-spot leap is the biggest jump among law schools this year and one of the largest ever on the U.S. News law school list, Rutgers officials said. "Our graduate students - and especially our doctoral students - help us attract stellar faculty". Its global law program was ranked no. 6, while its clinical training came in at no. 9. It is the 8th consecutive year the School of Business MBA program has been #1 in the state. To compile their list, U.S. News ranked 197 law schools accredited by the American Bar Association using 12 weighted metrics, including bar passage rate, mean LSAT and GRE scores, and acceptance rate. Our graduate programs include a Master of Arts in Management, Master of Science in Accountancy, Master of Science in Business Analytics, and a Master of Business Administration.

"This ranking is an indication of a maturing School of Engineering with an improving reputation", Matsumoto said. Rankings for the 198 schools that provided the data were calculated based on a weighted average of 10 measures of quality, including peer and recruiter assessments, student selectivity, faculty resources and research activity. The School of Information ranks No. 5 and Cockrell School of Engineering is No. 9; both moved up one spot from the previous report. Engineering specialty rankings are based exclusively on peer assessments by department heads in each specialty area. The rankings of law, medical and business schools are especially influential.

In the social sciences and humanities, English clocked in at No. 8 overall.

U.S. News did not update its graduate rankings on the Sciences, which were last ranked in 2014.
