Spread the love on National Donor Day

The state's Donate Life Registry is a confidential, computerized system that registers a person's consent to donate his or her organs after they die.

National Donor Day was started back in 1998 and focused on five points of life including: organs, tissues, marrow, platelets, and blood. "With this action, we are aking one more step toward a stronger, healthier NY for all".

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo signed the new law in August.

Donate Life America is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit alliance of national organizations and Donate Life State Teams across the United States committed to increasing the number of donated organs, eyes and tissue available for transplant to save and heal lives.

Arizona Immigrant Mother Given Leniency Under Obama Administration, Deported
Garcia de Rayos, 35, was detained by ICE agents during a routine appointment on Wednesday and deported to Mexico Thursday morning. Garcia de Rayos' teenage children spoke at an emotional news conference Thursday in Phoenix, the Arizona Republic reported.

State law had previously set the minimum age for the New York State Donate Life Registry at 18. Enrolling to be an organ donor will not affect one's medical care and/or funeral arrangements, and there is no cost to the donor's family. "Enrollment in the Registry should improve and lives will be saved".

The new law permits parents of 16 and 17-year-olds to still revoke the organ donation decision of their children.

Here in Colorado, there are 2,500 people waiting to get a life-saving transplant.
