Payet putting West Ham in sticky situation

Payet putting West Ham in sticky situation

West Ham moved quickly to tie the France worldwide down to a fresh contract last February, only seven months into the five-year deal he signed on joining the club.

Payet, 29, joined West Ham from Marseille in 2015 and was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award after a stunning debut campaign in which he scored 12 goals in all competitions. "We are not going to sell him", Bilic added.

Despite the insane money that's been thrown around in the transfer window nowadays, I don't think West Ham could demand too much of a fee considering his age and that he wants out.

"We just have to make sure that we get it sooner rather than later because the longer it goes on, the more fearful players can get so we need to put that away as soon as possible". It's not a money issue or anything.

It is being suggested that Payet will not attend training or play for the club in their match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

"We had a conversation a couple of days ago but this began 10 days or so ago when the window opens".

"To be completely honest, the last thing I want to talk about in this column is the situation surrounding Dimitri Payet", he wrote.

Steelers dominate Dolphins 30-12 to advance to the AFC Divisional Round
With the Steelers focusing on stopping Jay Ajayi and the Dolphins' running game, this matchup on the outside will be a big key. On the next play from scrimmage, Moore was intercepted by Ryan Shazier, setting up the Steelers offense in Miami territory.

Despite the current stand-off Bilic says he has no intention of selling the player and that Payet can return to the team.

West Ham's Croatian manager has been looking particularly troubled lately in what has undoubtedly been the toughest season of his life. There is no point in saying we won't miss Dimitri Payet because the fans know - we know - that he is a great player.

Bilic revealed that Payet will train separately from the first team until the situation is resolved, while reiterating that West Ham do not plan to sell the midfielder. Once Payet had made his mark in front of millions on home soil, in the same way he'd stamped his class with some sparkling displays for his East London fans, the inevitable question arose: how long can West Ham hang onto the talismanic midfielder? "We want to keep our best players".

Payet is believed to have told Bilic at the start of this month that he wants to leave the club.

So it's in the club interest to at least get him back on the field for the remainder of the season.

West Ham paid Marseille just under £11 million for Payet, and they can easily triple that if/when they decide to sell him.
