City Preparing for Significant Ice Storm this Weekend Jan. 13 - 15

Freezing rain will be most likely form late Friday night into Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service continues predictions for freezing rain and ice accumulation throughout the weekend in Green Country. We might see pure rain Monday around noon when surface temperatures reach just above that freezing point with a high predicted around 34 in Carroll. This means that roads would be frozen over; making travel impossible and treacherous, power lines will be weighed down by ice; meaning significant power outages will be possible and are expected.

The Marion County Road Department is preparing today for the storm, and tells KNIA/KRLS News trucks and motor graders will be ready to clear roads Sunday and Monday. "We will be out making sure the roads are as safe as possible, but icy conditions may make roads slick this weekend".

National Weather Service officials have issued a freezing rain advisory from 7:00 p.m. Friday until 1 p.m. Sunday.

Rainson said we could get up to a quarter-inch of ice on Sunday.
