Following NATO exercise, United States forces start deploying in Poland for 1st time

A convoy of U.S. troops on its way to Zagan, western Poland, arrived in Poland from Germany on Thursday, according to Polish Press Agency.

US troops are being deployed in Poland under Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Poland shares a 144-mile border with Russia, and it's one of several countries in the region that feels threatened by Russian aggression.

In Moscow, Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "We perceive it as a threat".

The operation, representing the largest US military reinforcement of Europe in decades, calls for a unit rotation every nine months.

“It is clearly an escalation that involves numerous facets including propaganda about Russian crimes in the United States media; that includes shipping troops and equipment to the border; that includes expanding North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and pushing hard on other North Atlantic Treaty Organisation members to join in this escalation where you have serious protests in Germany by those who want peace [and are] against sending Germans or Americans from Germany eastward, as they should. Poland has also received armored tanks, trucks and other military equipment that have come in by both rail and air.

Derrick Rose's M.I.A
Rose wasn't listed on the injury report , and Hornacek didn't mention that Rose was unavailable at his pregame press conference. Teammate Joakim Noah told reporters Monday night that Rose's health is "OK", which was "a relief for all of us".

The armoured brigade combat team arriving in Poland hails from Fort Carson, Colo.

The arrival of American military equipment and personnel in Poland is another step in Operation Atlantic Resolve, a large-scale military undertaking that the U.S. launched in April of 2014, right after Crimea voted to join Russian Federation, as a demonstration of "continued United States commitment to the collective security of Europe".

The headquarters will be located in Germany.

"This is precisely the way we see it", he said, Russia's TASS news agency reports.

The forces will branch out to seven Eastern European countries from Estonia to Bulgaria on a rotational basis within the next two weeks.

But their long-sought show of support, moved forward into the last days of the Obama administration, comes with a caveat: Will president-elect Donald Trump will maintain the commitment? On Thursday, Russia claimed that the American military presence in Poland is a threat to its national security.
