'Dozens' Trapped On Roller Coaster At Movie World On Gold Coast

Sky News reported some passengers had been rescued already, while others remained on the ride.

Those riding the coaster were seated in chairs suspended from the ride.

Out of those people, four people were rescued using a ladder platform, while the rest of them were easily rescued.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman confirmed all of the thrill seekers were safely removed from the ride at 1.20pm.

Twenty people were left stranded 65 feet off the ground after a rollercoaster broke down at a theme park on Australia's Gold Coast.

Queensland Ambulance Service official Paul Young said none of the trapped passengers at Movie World needed medical treatment.

However this incident comes just three months after a deadly accident at the neighbouring Dreamworld theme park.

There were more patrons, however, enjoying Whitewater World in the hot weather.

The incident follows the deaths of four people on the neighbouring Thunder River Rapids Ride at Dreamworld in October, which prompted a sweeping Queensland government safety audit of local theme park rides.

Dreamland owner Ardent Leisure has announced that the ride will be demolished.
