Queen nearly shot by guardsman during 3am stroll

Queen nearly shot by guardsman during 3am stroll

She was apparently almost shot years ago as she walked around Buckingham Palace when one of her guards mistook the Queen for an intruder, according to media reports Wednesday.

Going by the undated tale told by an ex-palace guard to The Times Diary, the Queen was once mistaken for an intruder - and the guardsman "nearly shot" her.

To his amazement it was the Queen.

Upon learning the intruders real identity the former guard reportedly said: 'Bloody hell, Your Majesty, I almost shot you, ' reports the newspaper.

The Queen reportedly is a light sleeper and when sleep eludes, often goes on late night strolls in the palace gardens wearing a winter coat.

"On this eve of national celebrations, my family and I are with you in spirit". Thank goodness he did, because the voice that answered belong to Her Majesty herself.

Chip Kelly to be dismissed by San Francisco 49ers
Trent Baalke likely has been relaying to the powers-that-be and, in turn, persuade the 49ers to change their plans. The 49ers have not had to replace a coach and GM since 2005 when they hired Mike Nolan and Scot McCloughan.

Yesterday, to the enthusiasm of fans, family and friends, Elizabeth made her first royal engagement since battling a reported heavy cold over the Christmas and New Year's holidays.

The shocked guard even went up to her majesty and confessed that he was nearly about to shoot her.

It was unusual for Elizabeth not to attend the service, long part of her New Year's Day routine.

Now an ex-guardsman, the Queen's staffer revealed to pals the monarch responded: "That's quite all right".

The monarch invested Ray Wheaton, the Queen's Page of the Chambers, with the insignia of a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order, according to the court circular. There was no indication she is suffering from a more serious illness. A week later, she also missed the New Year's Day service.

She's said to be doing better and recovering at her Norfolk Estate. In 1982 Michael Fagan scaled the palace walls and even managed to access the Queen's bedroom before security were called. On Sunday he arrived by vehicle before walking into St. Mary Magdalene parish church.
