11 attacked at Chinese kindergarten after man with knife climbs over wall

Compared to many other countries, violence crime is rare in China.

Chinese State Television reported that five children have serious injuries although none are believed to be life-threatening.

Three children were seriously injured and have been sent to hospital for treatment according to Xinhua.

Chinese state media said a man with a knife climbed over a wall into the kindergarten and attacked the students.

Knife attacks at schools in China are common.

In recent years, China has had several incidents of attackers entering schools and stabbing children, mostly carried out by people with vendettas against society.

In April 2010, a man stabbed 29 school children and three teachers at a nursery in Taixing city, Jiangsu province in Eastern China.

Xu Yuyuan, 47, was sentenced to death for the attack. Two years earlier, a man stabbed three elementary school kids before jumping off a building, and in 2012, a man stabbed 23 children and an elderly woman in a village in Henan Province.
