Chip Kelly to be dismissed by San Francisco 49ers

Chip Kelly to be dismissed by San Francisco 49ers

Chip Kelly will be fired as coach of the San Francisco 49ers, regardless of whether the 49ers win or lose today against the Seattle Seahawks.

The 49ers are 2-13 headed into their final game. Kelly had posted a 26-21 record with one playoff appearance with the Eagles. Baalke reportedly chose Tomsula over Adam Gase after informing Gase he would be Harbaugh's replacement. With one game remaining this season, Kelly now sports an overall coaching record of 28-34 and has only ever appeared in one playoff game-a 26-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2013 postseason. A season ago, the Niners finished (5-11) under Jim Tomsula. It's possible, theoretically, that Kelly will reverse months of criticism that G.M. Trent Baalke likely has been relaying to the powers-that-be and, in turn, persuade the 49ers to change their plans.

Kelly, a native of Dover, New Hampshire, made his name at the University of OR where he posted a 46-7 record, including 2-2 in Bowl Games.

Trump takes jabs at Obama on Twitter
Tech billionaire Masayoshi Son promised to create 50,000 jobs after meeting with the president-elect in December. The Sprint jobs announcement came after tensions rose and fell Wednesday between Trump and Obama.

Will he stay in the National Football League and get another job as a head coach? The coach had issues in and out of the locker room, but the issues he had with Eagles players didn't seem to follow him to San Francisco.

The 49ers have not had to replace a coach and GM since 2005 when they hired Mike Nolan and Scot McCloughan.

Kaepernick is just one of three quarterbacks drafted by Baalke, who also selected South Florida's B.J. Daniels in the seventh round of the 2013 draft.
